The Wax Horse Head Creature (Concept) - Pasheer and the Lost Middle World

In the very beginning of the Project, I was feeling, if not too hesitant if I wanted to make fully articulated puppet of a Sand Horse so I decided to make Creature that is sticking to the ground.

But before we get into the actual Creature I am working on, let's take a look at my Pocket Sketch-notebook from Dec 2025-March 2026!

sketch01 Here is the sketch notebook that I made solely for my project. It's almost finished as a whole pocket notebook

I actually forgot to make another new one but it's alright now I remember!

concept02 This is a sketch of how the 3D model of the Sand-horse creature was from!

Okay so... I want to make a Creature/monster that doesn't have legs because its lower torso is sticking to the ground. How is the design going to look like?

I'm thinking of this:

"What if it was a Horse-like Creature that as if it a Quick Sand just pulling it? So it's like the Quick Sand trying to pull the Horse-like Creature from the back leg"

So I tried looking for documentaries on Youtube about it and of course I cannot find any. Yes there are many AI-generated ones and I really hated it

Here's a tip though. Try to include "before:2021" in your search bar to make it search way older videos!

So here is the very early sketch concepts of the QuickSand-Horse creature

Again, I could not find any video references I needed. I mean that makes sense: who would like to bring their beloved horse to dangerous Quicksand area?

So I searched Horse swimming video on Youtube before year of 2021

As a result, I did find some horse swimming but it is more in a training pool than when the horse wanted to. It does feel like a swim training for the horse to build up the muscle in the water. Interestingly, the horse would get led by the trainer to move around the pool from the head.

So to further understanding this matter, I started sketching around too.

And then I thought, what if I just leave the head only? Like a chess piece of a knight (horse-shaped) IMG_5121

It does look like a wax-head sculpture! Except it will move! Yes did I say... "move"...?

This will be my first moving-head puppet project!

So far I've only sketched the side view of the scale!

So far that's all for the progress of the Wax-Head sculpture of a Horse concept.

Reflections of how I feel

In my experience when making big project, it's easy to get into more doubt than usual. It is the kind of feeling that I have to tackle every time I do ambitous project from scratch.

It's the kind of feeling where, while I have few years of experience in this hobby, the doubt doesn't go away because the project is still in early phase that it's easy to go on to exploration "blue-sky" phase without being "you know what let's go with this, I am the creator, the director and the client for this solo project and I'm going to trust myself"

This is not my first my ambitious project, but this will give me a learning opportunity within my own pace. Especially when it comes to functional/moving sculpture

I'm excited to see what I will make in the garage and I'll see you on the next project log!
